A 19th-Century 3-inch diameter lacquered-brass French Cross,
unsigned, the glazed compass with blued-steel needle and silvered scale, the drum with three pairs of sights, silvered scale and turning knob, on a staff mounting, in a felt-lined wooden box; a 19th-Century lacquered-brass cross staff, unsigned but engraved on the underside 10, the 1¾-inch diameter drum with four pairs of sights, aperture at the top and threaded handle, fitting inside for storage in a brass cannister -- 7cm. (2¾in.) high; a lacquered-brass line ranger, the 1 5/8-inch diameter body with plumb line hook inside and threaded base, two reflecting glass prisms mounted on top, with threaded brass cap, in a cylindrical leather case -- 7.7cm. (3in.) high; a good early 20th-Century miniature sighting level signed LUDW. TESDORPF STUTTGART and stamped PATENT WAGNER NO2124, the telescope with rack and pinion adjustment, the body with concealed bubble level read through second eyepiece lens, the detachable base with fine-screw vertical adjustment, in a fitted purple felt-lined pigskin-covered case -- 15.2cm. (6in.) wide; and a 1943 olive-painted military range-finder made by Research Enterprises Ltd, Canada, and Barr & Stroud Ltd, Glasgow, no.AP10080, with rubber ends, prismatic sights and staff mounting -- 11cm. (43¾in.) wide; a brass gunner's sighting instrument stamped 1944 DS&S no1704 V.E.0067, the bubble level mounted on top on a curved base moved by twisting the telescope in the housing beneath, with dovetail mounting -- 13.9cm. (5½in.) wide; and a small brass-cased bubble level on a flat base, in a black-painted tin container -- 8.9cm. (3½in.) wide
