An early 20th-Century aluminium and lacquered-brass simple theodolite,
of small size, signed W.C. COX. DEVONPORT, the 7½-inch long telescope with ray-shade lens cap, bubble level, rack and pinion focusing and cross-hair adjustment screws, with a vertical 70-110° scale to be read off a fixed vernier with bubble level, on two short A-frame supports with fine-screw adjustment and clamp, over the glazed floating card compass with circumference scale and prismatic magnifier, raised on a three-screw tripod mounting with fine-screw adjustment and clamp -- 14cm. (5½in.) high
