Cal. 15''' nickel-finished lever movement, 68 jewels, the custom-made two-tone silvered dial with applied white gold baton numerals, white gold dauphine hands, four subsidiary dials indicating phases of the moon with silvered moon display combined with 30 minutes register, day combined with constant seconds, date and day combined with 12 hours register, eccentric window for the four digit year display, in massive circular water-resistant-type case with large bezel and downturned lugs, the back secured by six screws, screw down crown, repeating slide and two rectangular chronograph buttons in the band, together with a platinum IWC buckle, case, dial and movement signed
42 mm. diam.

Lot Essay

Accompanied by IWC blank Certificate of Ownership, Operating Instructions and wooden presentation box with silvered metal inlay engraved Grand Complication 1993 No. 36/50.

The dial of the present watch was replaced upon special request by the present owner who wished an entirely silvered display. A copy of the invoice from Türler Zürich amounting to SFr. 1,000 for the change of the dial will be delivered with the watch. It now features white gold numerals, hands and silvered chapter rings to the subsidiary dials. In order to meet his esthetical requirements even the moon display was exchanged from gold to silver.

The standard version of the 1993 Grand Complication model in platinum is fitted with yellow gold numerals and hands, gilt chapter rings and a gold moon. It was made in a limited edition of 50 examples.
