Cal. 18''' gilt-finished jewelled lever movement, bimetallic compensation balance, wolf's tooth winding, silver cuvette, the black enamel dial with gold Roman numerals, subsidiary seconds, in finely engraved scroll decorated case with raised gold Roman numerals to the glazed aperture in the front, gilt crown and bow, case numbered, cuvette signed and numbered, movement numbered underneath the dial

Lot Essay

Accompanied by Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch with black enamel dial, oxidized covers with "vermicelle" pattern and gold hour markers in 1864 and its subsequent sale on 21 August 1866. It is furthermore stated that the initials and crown on the back of the case were covered with "vermicelle" pattern during a servicing in 1886.

The present watch is a rarity as it is fitted with a highly unusually decorated silver case combined with a black enamel dial, a feature known to less than 10 pocketwatches made by Patek Philippe.
