Lot Essay

Conrad Mauter, maître in 1777.

Mauter's career was as long as it was successful. He was recorded working as early as 1768 and was still working in the Directoire and Consulat periods. He supplied furniture to the Comte d'Artois, brother of the King and future Charles X. Many pieces of Mauter's furniture were delivered to the Palais du Temple and the Châteaux de Bagatelle, Saint Germain-en-laye and Saint-Cloud.
