Finely painted with a three-quarter length portrait of a maiden holding flowers in her apron, attended by putti in flight
8½ x 5½ in. (21.5 x 14 cm.), unframed

Lot Essay

André-Charles Voillemot (1823-1893), a pupil of Martin Drolling, first exhibited at the Salon in 1845. Amongst his major commissions were the decoration of the Imperial Pavilion at the Paris Exposition Universelle of 1867 and of the theatre at Fontainebleau. He was also responsible for the decoration of the Chilean Congress in Santiago.
