Lot Essay

Le Corbusier was presumably sufficiently impressed with the functionalism of this design, as he produced a series of drawings examining both the form and the hinge mechanism on the reverse of a sheet of L'Esprit Nouveau notepaper, circa 1925 (Fondation Le Corbusier, document 8588).
