A BEIJING BLUE OVERLAY GLASS BOTTLE VASE
QIANLONG INCISED FOUR-CHARACTER MARK AND OF THE PERIOD (1736-1795)

Finely carved through a sapphire-blue layer to the opaque white ground, the globular body decorated with a pair of bats and a butterfly variously in flight amidst a fruiting peach tree growing on a rockwork ground detailed with bamboo and chrysanthemum sprays, all below a straight cylindrical neck carved with an archaistic phoenix, supported on a short splayed foot, the underside of the foot bearing the reign mark with each character incised on a cardinal point
