A LARGE LATE MING BLUE AND WHITE SAUCER-DISH
WANLI (1573-1619)
Painted in a large central roundel with numerous pairs of birds, including mandarin ducks, cockerels, pheasants, parrots and swallows, in a landscape with a pagoda, bamboo, pine trees, willow and rockwork, with fishermen in boats beside rocky outcrops in a band at the rim, the reverse with four peach sprays and perched birds, rim fritting
17 in. (43 cm.) diam.
