Each with flowerhead-crested oval back and a serpentine seat with stop fluted rails on tapering turned and fluted legs, the decoration slightly distressed. (2)

Lot Essay

The underside of this chair has slots in the seat rail; this was a technique favoured by Thomas Chippendale of securing a purchase for clamps in the construction of the chair frame.
