THREE FRENCH IVORY CARNETS-DE-BAL SET WITH MEDALLIONS
one by François Delanoy (fl. 1768-1787), marked, Paris, 1771/1772, with the charge and discharge marks of Julien Alaterre 1768-1774, later struck with two French import marks for gold 1864-1893; one with the discharge marks of Henry Clavel 1782-1789; one with illegible marks
Three slightly tapering rectangular ivory étuis-à-tablettes of flattened oblong section, one, gold-mounted, set with two gold on black Japan-lacquer panels, the two others, silver-gilt mounted, set with octagonal glazed miniatures glorifying love; all three with three-leaved tablets inside but all pencils missing
