A SWISS MUSICAL TORTOISESHELL BOX SET WITH A GOLD RELIEF PLAQUE
Geneva, circa 1830, the panel in the manner of Kirstein
Rectangular dark tortoiseshell box, opening to reveal the musical barrel movement (not in working condition) protected by a translucent blonde tortoiseshell panel, the front side of the base with two levers, the base with keyhole, the lid inset with a glazed gold plaque embossed and chased with a topographical view of Geneva built up in layers, stamped with inscription (under the mount) 'GENEVE PRISE. DU PETIT SACONEX [sic] .. I.S.B.', within a gold mount stamped with foliage, the sides of the lid strengthened with a metal band, with associated key
