Lot Essay

Gustavus Gustafson of Vasa, eldest son of King Gustavus IV Adolphus of Sweden and Frederika Dorothea Wilhelmina of Hesse-Darmstadt (see preceding lot), was Field Marshal in the Austrian Army. He married his first cousin Louisa Amalia Stephanie (1811-1854), eldest daughter of Charles, Grand Duke of Baden, and had issue.
