The teapot tapering cylindrical with moulded footrim, pricked lowerband of acanthus leaves, angular wooden handle, shaped spout, detachable domed cover with acanthus leaves against matted ground, baluster and wooden finial, and a hammered brandybowl on circular raised foot, the rim engraved with dots and wavy lines, the openwork applied handles with monograms, the centre with acanthus leaves and dots, marked on bodies and rims

Lot Essay

Elias Voet jr (1868-1940) started around 1890 to class the names and maker's mark of Dutch gold and silversmiths. He published several books about silver from Amsterdam, The Hague and Frisia. The most well known book by him is Nederlandsche Goud- En Zilvermerken 1445-1935. He owned a jewellery and silverstore at the Anegang in Haarlem. Two of his sons continued working in this store. His other son Johan Anton Voet opened his own store at the Grote Houtstraat also in Haarlem.
