Lot Essay

A student of his father, Antoine Vollon, his work was shown at the Paris Salon from 1885. At the Exposition Universelle he was awarded several honours, including le Légion de Chevalier d'Honneur in 1900, and a médaille d'argent in the same year. Well known for painting landscapes of the Seine in Paris he figured in the time of the great impressionists, and his works are shown in museums throughout France.
