CIRCA 1560, WORKSHOP OF MAESTRO DOMENICO DA VENEZIA
With a globular body and short waisted neck, each side painted with profile portraits within yellow-ochre medallions with ochre hatching, one with a portrait of a bearded warrior in a plumed helmet, the other with a finely dressed lady wearing a large earring and a band in her golden hair, within elaborate pierced scrolling strapwork cartouches against a blue ground with sgraffito white scrolls and coloured foliage-scrolls issuing fruit, flowers and acorns, one issuing a beast's head, between blue line and yellow band borders (rim with three chips, short minor crack and minute fritting, crack from footrim extending up a third of body, areas of slight wear)
