A VENICE WET-DRUG JAR
CIRCA 1560, PROBABLY WORKSHOP OF MAESTRO DOMENICO
Of baluster form with a strap handle and cylindrical spout, the front painted with a portrait of a lady in profile within a white and double blue line circular cartouche, against a blue ground with white sgraffito scrolls and bold coloured scrolling foliage, the reverse reserved with a shaped oval cartouche with a haloed bearded Saint holding a cross and a rock (?), on a waisted circular foot, with ochre band and blue line rims (spout restuck, long crack from rim to base of panel with Saint, upper rim with small minor cracks and chipping, footrim with slight chipping and sections of restored chipping)
