A SEVRES SUGAR-POT AND COVER (POT A SUCRE HEBERT)

The pot of slightly bombé form, the lower half with a garland suspended from gilt foliage scrolls enclosing panels of diaper ornament, each centred by a medallion of different pattern edged with a circular garland of laurel, below a continuous horizontal purple and white stave entwined with gilt bands, a blue band with gilt diaper ornament and a gilt dentil rim, the domed cover similarly decorated with gilt scrolls enclosing four panels about a coloured carnation finial (minute chipping to flower finial)

Lot Essay

A sugar-pot of the same form with frize decoration similar to the Choiseul-Praslin service, and formerly in the Zieseniss Collection, was sold by Christie's Paris on 6th December 2001, lot 214.
