A Meissen gilt-metal mounted circular snuff-box
CIRCA 1750, THE MOUNTS CONTEMPORARY
The box finely modelled as the underside of a rose, the overlapping petals radiating from the centre, the stem with buds and leaves and extending from the centre to one side, the slightly domed cover moulded with overlapping petals forming a convex centre imitating the interior of the flower, some petals moulded with a butterfly and a small winged insect at rest, the contemporary mount chased with a continuous band of waved ornament (very slight spots of sanding, underside with slight areas of wear and small firing crack)
