A PAIR OF MEISSEN TWO-HANDLED BOWLS AND COVERS
CIRCA 1725-28, BLUE CROSSED SWORDS MARKS, GILDER'S SINGLE DOT TO ONE ECUELLE AND INTERIOR OF ONE COVER, GILDER'S TWO DOTS TO OTHER ECUELLE
Each with gilt-edged double-scroll handles, the écuelles painted with sprays of indianische Blumen and insects in flight below borders of gilt shells divided by foliage, the upper parts of the domed covers each with four chinoiserie vignettes from the Höroldt workshop about a gilt ball finial, the vignettes with Orientals at various pursuits on terraces within shaped gilt cartouches with Böttger-lustre panels and gilt scrolls, within a moulded gilt band, the lower part with four elongated cartouches with similar scenes divided by gilt birds perched on flowering branches, within gilt band rims (one cover broken through and repaired, other cover with minute chip to moulded band, minute areas of wear to gilding, some firing cracks to rims and footrims)
