A MEISSEN SMALL BULLET-SHAPED CHINOISERIE TEAPOT AND COVER
CIRCA 1735, BLUE CROSSED SWORDS MARK, DREHER'S INCISED X, GILDER'S 17<->. TO BOTH
Painted by C.F. Herold, one side with a blackamoor seated at a table with an Oriental by a palm tree and an attendant, the other with two Orientals and a boy, within shaped ogival quatrefoil gilt cartouches with slender puce panels edged with gilt and red scrolls, below a gilt scroll and scale ornament panel border, with indianische Blumen on the spout, handle, between the handle and below a panel of gilt Laub-und-Bandelwerk below the spout, the slightly domed cover with three chinoiserie vignettes about a gilt ball finial, gilt line rim (handle broken through and repaired, very slight areas of wear to gilding on tip of spout, rims and handle, cover with minute rim chip)
