A MEISSEN SILVER-GILT MOUNTED SMALL BULLET-SHAPED TEAPOT AND COVER
CIRCA 1735, BLUE CROSSED SWORDS MARK
Painted and enriched in lustre and gilding by C.F. Herold with a continuous terrace with flowering shrubs, palm trees and fences, with Orientals gathered around a table on one side and around a cauldron full of statuettes and precious objects on the other side, one seated Oriental with a monkey clambering over his head, above a double iron-red border and gilt band footrim, the wishbone handle and tapering octagonal section spout with indianische Blumen, the slightly domed cover with two chinoiserie vignettes flanking a gilt ball finial, attached with a gilt-metal chain to the handle, gilt line rims (tip of spout with slight restoration, handle and spout with minute areas of wear to gilding)
