Mark of Martin-Guillaume Biennais, Paris, 1809-1819
Oval, on four lion's paw feet, the slightly flaring sides with an external frieze of putti, peacocks, swans, and ribboned garlands on a textured ground applied twice with a crowned monogram, between borders of oak leaves and acorns, and stylized grapevines on a reeded ground, the rim with anthemion border, the field with berried laurel border, with two acanthus bud and rope-twist handles, the reverse fitted with wooden supports, marked on side and handle

The monogram and crown are those of Grand Duke Michael Pavlovich (1798-1849), son of Tsar Paul 1 (r.1798-1801) and brother of Tsar Alexander 1 (r.1801-1825) and Tsar Nicholas 1 (r.1825-1855)
