A French engraved gilt-brass and porcelain-mounted striking and repeating carriage clock, circa 1880
The corniche case engraved with foliate scrolls against a matted ground, with porcelain panels to the sides, rear door and top, each with gilt-bordered pink ground, those to the sides and top depicting ladies and the rear panel showing a riverscape, the conforming dial with scene of a lady and child below a Roman chapter ring with retail signature REID & SONS/PARIS & NEWCASTLE, blued steel Breguet hands, the eight day twin barrel movement with platform lever escapement, strike/repeat on gong to back plate stamped for Drocourt and numbered 3966 -- 6in. (15cm.) high to fold of handle
