A Victorian quarter-chiming longcase clock, mid 19th century
With scroll and shield cresting, outset twist columns and tracery arch sound frets, conforming pilasters flanking the trunk door, the plinth raised on bracket feet, the 12in. wide brass dial with scroll spandrels to the silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring, silvered and engraved centre with subsidiary seconds ring, the arch with selection for chime on 4 bells/chime on 8 bells, the eight day movement with four pillars, anchor escapement and rack strike on bell, with quarter chimes on a nest of eight bells -- 88in. (224cm.) high
