A William and Mary ebonised striking table clock with pull quarter repeat, circa 1690
The case with brass handle to moulded cushion top, pierced sound frets above glazed side panels, on stepped base, further fret above the top door rail, the 7in. square brass dial with foliate spandrels to a silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with fleur-de-lys half hour and lozenge half quarter hour markers, signed S. Bouquet London, matted centre with ringed winding holes and mock pendulum and date apertures, strike/not strike lever above 60, blued steel later hands, the eight day twin gut fusee movement with five ringed pillars, reconverted verge escapement with later pierced and engraved openwork apron, hour strike on bell and re-instated pull quarter repeat on six bells, the back plate elaborately engraved with foliate scrolls and a winged mask above the signature reserve also signed S. Bouquet/London, secured to the case with two blued steel brackets from the back plate to the seatboard and with turn catches to the rear of the dial -- 14¼in. (36cm.) high to fold of handle
