FRANK SINATRA'S GLENN MILLER AWARD
1954
A cast metal award in the shape of a golden microphone, mounted on a carved wood base presented to Frank Sinatra with an inscribed metal plaque that reads, "Annual Glenn Miller Award to Frank Sinatra for the Outstanding Contribution to Popular Music in 1954 Presented by Jerry Marshall and the WNEW Make Believe Ballroom." Musically, 1954 was an important year for Sinatra, releasing his first 12" album, In The Wee Small Hours, which hit number one on Billboard's Pop Album Chart. Sinatra also earned an Oscar in March 1954 for his supporting role in From Here To Eternity (Columbia).
