A MEISSEN RECTANGULAR TEACADDY AND COVER
CIRCA 1730, TRACES OF BLUE CROSSED SWORDS MARK
Painted in the Höroldt workshop, each facet with harbour scenes of figures in conversation and at various pursuits before boats and buildings, within gilt quatrefoil cartouches with Böttger-lustre panels reserved with shaded gilt flowerheads, shaded gilt lozenges and edged with purple and iron-red scrolls, flanked above and below with scattered sprays of indianische Blumen and with insects on the sides, the flat shoulder with a rectangular band of Gitterwerk enclosing indianische Blumen, the cylindrical cover with a harbour scene within an iron-red double-concentric circle cartouche within a Gitterwerk border at the side (very small chip to underside of foot, areas of wear to gilding)
