THE POTTERY CIRCA 1720, THE SILVER-GILT MOUNTS 18TH CENTURY, APPARENTLY UNMARKED
Mounted as a jug with a hinged cover, each facet moulded with arched panels gilt with Orientals at various pursuits above strapwork supports, the larger vignettes within lobed cartouches, with tightly interlocking scrolls and flowerheads above, below and down the sides, the slightly spreading gilt band footrim supported by four pad feet, the cylindrical neck mounted with a helmet-shaped spout centred below with a shell, the shell-moulded cover with a flamiform finial, the scroll handle moulded and chased with a foliate thumbpiece above lappets (minor chipping to two feet, very slight wear to edge of base and mounts)
