A BAYREUTH GOLDCHINESEN GLAZED RED STONEWARE TEAPOT AND COVER
CIRCA 1720
Of squat baluster form, the scroll handle exterior, curved spout, rim and footrim richly gilt, each side of the body gilt with vignettes of Orientals on terraces with urns and trees, one with a lady holding a mirror, the other with a figure chasing another holding a flowering branch, within quatrefoil cartouches edged with scrolls, the spout surrounded by Laub-und-Bandelwerk, the domed cover with an onion finial above foliage scrolls divided by Laub-und-Bandelwerk panels within a bold dentil rim (restoration to underside of tip of spout, slight wear to finial and rim of cover)
