CIRCA 1757, PUCE WHEEL MARK, IMPRESSED I AND WHEEL MARK
The body of baluster form on three scroll-moulded feet, the rocaille-moulded flared neck enriched in puce, the waved rim extending up at the back to form a concave wind-shield, the interior moulded with a shell above a pierced aperture for a candle and a small adjacent aperture, the wind-shield joined to the body on the reverse with a scroll-moulded loop handle, the front of the body painted with amorous peasants seated on a bench flanked by puce and gilt moulded scrolling foliage extending up from the feet, the sides with flower-sprays and an insect (some areas of wear)
