CIRCA 1750, BLUE SHIELD MARKS, IMPRESSED O AND 5 TO KETTLE, O AND 6 TO TEABOWL, 10 AND ·· TO SAUCER
The teapot of bullet-shaped kettle form with a gilt foliage-moulded beast's head spout, the incised high loop handle with meandering gilt foliage and applied gilt flowerhead terminals, each side painted with dilapidated buildings in wooded landscapes below a Gitterwerk border (base of handle with crack and firing cracks, cover with finial restuck and restored chip to underside of rim), the teabowl and saucer similarly decorated, with a figures, towers, classical ruins, dilipidated arches and a pyramid, with similar gilt borders and gilt line rims (teabowl with wear to gilt rim and minute wear to enamels, saucer with minute wear to gilt rim)
