A scale model of the revenue cutter Search
William E. Hitchcock (American, 20th century)
modeled in 1/8 in.:1 ft. scale, built up from the solid with a copper foil bottom and painted black topsides with a red top strake, veneer basswood decks with scored planking, and detailed with anchors, coils of line, pin rails, ship's boat, center mounted cannon, dog house with companionway, tiller, rudder and other details. Fitted with bow sprit, two masts, cross spars, gaffs, spanker boom, and U.S. Revenue flag. Displayed in a brass framed glass case with a mahogany base and a inset mirror to show the bottom of the model.
