Specialising in porcelain-mounted and Boulle style furniture, Louis Gradé established his shop at 9, rue Castex in 1852, moving to larger premises at 23, rue de la Paix in 1856. The firm exhibited at the 1851, 1855 and 1867 Universal Exhibitions and in 1866 became known as Louis Gradé et Pelcot.
