S. Smith & Son. A good 18 carat gold keyless perpetual calendar and minute repeating chronograph pocket watch with Kew certificate
Signed S. Smith & Son, 9 Strand, London, No. 151-1/12203. 1910
The frosted gilt three quarter plate movement jewelled to the centre with screwed chatons, the bimetallic balance with blued steel hairspring, English lever escapement, repeating the minutes on two gongs by operating a slide in the band, also engraved class 'a' Kew certificate 67.5marks, the white enamel dial with Roman numerals, Arabic five minute divisions, subsidiary dials for day of the week, date, four year cycle combined with a thirty minute counter, sector for the moon with running seconds and lunar calendar, blued steel spade hands, sweep centre seconds operated by a button in the band, in plain gold case with hinged cuvette, engraved monogram to the front cover, the cuvette engraved from Gh. Winterbottom to his son Harold as a mark of his affection February 7th 1910
