A French brass striking Capucine clock with alarm
Lançon à Lyon. Second quarter 19th Century
The movement with twin going-barrels, tic-tac escapement with silk- suspended pendulum with regulation bar running beneath the bell to a calibrated scale above the dial, the strike-train with a vertical steel rack and brass star-and-snail planted on the backplate in the typical manner, alarm pulley also planted on the backplate and the strike on a foliate cast bell secured by a large brass handle above the plates and flanked by four brass finials, the brass dial plate with circular white enamel Roman chapter disc (cracks) signed Lançon à Lyon, blued steel moon hands with further alarm-set hand
