The case with pierced gallery frets to the sides, the front fret pierced with dolphins within foliage and signed at the bottom Thomas Knifton at the Cross Keys (symbol) in Lothbury, the narrow Roman chapter ring with single steel hand, florally engraved centre with central calibrated alarm disc engraved with a stylised flower head, two-train movement, the going train with early conversion from balance to anchor escapement, the strike train with countwheel planted on the rear strut and strike on a bell held within the four straps, the alarm train now lacking, later side doors
