Second quarter 19th Century
The brass dial plate fixed with a chapter ring engraved with Japanese characters revolving against a petal-pierced brass stationery hand with decorative steel locking nut, the movement with rectangular brass pillars, iron wheels with double foliot verge escapement, countwheel strike on a bell above the plates, wrap-around backplate with integral hinged doors, the ebonised wood wall bracket with detachable hood with simple slatted doors to the sides
