A Japanese carved mulberry wood and brass double foliot dai-dokei with alarm
Mid 19th Century
The brass clock case engraved overall with peonies and chrysanthemums and with turned baluster columns to each angle, the dial with single calendar aperture above the revolving blued steel chapter ring with alarm pin and Japanese characters revolving against a fixed pierced brass hand, the movement going train with double foliot escapement, the countwheel for the strike train planted on the backplate with hour strike and alarm on the bell positioned above the plates, the mulberry wood stand naturalistically carved with leafy branches and flowerheads
