Wearing a broad brimmed hat and a ruff with purple and blue edging around his neck and yellow shoes with purple bows, his loose costume, finely painted in ivory, the jacket buttoned in the front, his left sleeve hanging down to his knees, his trousers slightly too short, standing on a square base set with grass and a tree stump with growing roots

The present figure was modelled after Watteau's painting of Pierrot, 1718-1719. Pierrot standing with his arms hanging by his sides wearing a simple costume with exaggerated long sleeves capturing his simple and vulnerable character.
