8o (196 x 123 mm). (Some occasional light spotting.) Modern boards (a few minor scratches to front cover).

PRICED in a contemporary hand. Sale catalogue of the library of one of the great women book collectors, who married the Comte de Verruë when she was thirteen. Presented by her husband to the court of Duke Victor Amadeus of Saxony two years later, Madame de Verruë soon became his mistress. Eventually she left Turin for Paris where she constructed a magnificent hôtel to hold her growing collection of art and her library of rare and precious books. This catalogue represents the most complete record of her library, which included maps, manuscripts, fine bindings, prints, fiction, and drama. La Vallière bought the works of drama, and they now reside in the Bibliothèque de l'Arsenal. North 44.
