PRICED in a contemporary hand. The first sale of books from the private library of Antoine-Augustin Renouard, the renowned French bibliographer and bookseller. This sale represents a relatively small but choice selection of rare books, "all in a perfect state of preservation" ("Avertissement"), many of which were bound by Derôme, Bradel, and Bozérian; there were numerous Bodoni and Didot imprints. PRICED in a contemporary hand. Patu de Mello was "Payeur des Rentes de l'Hôtel de Ville," Paris. He began forming his library as a student at the Collège de Beauvais where he distinguished himself in science and mathematics; the library was particularly strong in these areas, as well as history, travel, and belles-lettres. The catalogue contains interesting notes concerning provenance, questions of bibliographical priority, and medical curiousities, and has an index of authors' names.
