The sale of the library formed by Sobolewski, intimate friend of Pushkin, himself a poet and a historian of Russian printing, started off with 594 lots of bibliography and continued with literature, history, travel, and geography, including many works on Russia. The preface by Albert Cohn provides no biographical details about the collector. The following year List & Francke issued a catalogue (No. 91) comprised of 800 Livres russes de la bibliothèque de Sobolewski. Blogie IV, col. 65 (with 11-page "Liste des prix").
