A Marble Figure of a Goddess
India, Rajasthan or Gujarat, first half 12th Century
Well carved in sinuous tribhanga flanked by attendants on the stepped plinth, wearing elaborate necklaces and waistband with festoons and beaded pendants, a billowing sash wrapped around her arms, her gently rounded face slightly turned to the side with large almond-shaped eyes and surmounted by a conical headdress
