EXTREMELY RARE SALE CATALOGUE OF NAPOLEON'S FIRST LIBRARY, formed by him as First Consul and by his first wife, Joséphine de Beauharnais. Only one book in the sale is mentioned as having Napoléon's arms on the binding (lot 411 the 1789 Sacy Bible) and only one book is bound in morocco (the 72-volume Kehl Voltaire). 419 lots are listed, but most of the library was sold without catalogue starting each session (28-29 June, 5-6 July, 12-13 July). Napoleon's second library, formed with his second wife Empress Marie-Louise, was only rediscovered in 1929, by Martin Breslauer (see following lot).
