Title-page printed in red and black. 2 engraved folding maps and 4 engraved folding plates (small tears, usually at folds, with paper tape repairs on versos, one plate with paper tape reinforcement at outer margin). (Title page and *2 loose, hole to ***4 not affecting text). 19th-century red morocco, edges stained red (a bit rubbed).
FIRST EDITION. As he was only in America once, Hennepin, a Franciscan priest, does not give a personal narrative in this volume, but rather an account of La Salle's journey in Canada.
