A COPTIC WOOD PANEL WITH INSCRIPTION
CIRCA 10TH-11TH CENTURY A.D.
Carved with an Arabic inscription reading, "If not for you, for the crosses(?) ... lest it was aimed towards ... of the Sun. Say: I believe", surrounded by eight birds and a stylized flower or cross motif either side, 18½ x 6 in. (47 x 15 cm.); two Coptic textile fragments, one with two dancing figures with a square border, 5th-6th Century A.D., 5½ in. (14 cm.) sq., the other with central mask surrounded by various stylized animals including birds, fish and hares, circa 4th-5th Century A.D., 3¼ x 4 in. (8.2 x 10 cm.); and an Egyptian linen fragment decorated with a column of hieroglyphs for an "overseer of the magazine for the estate of Amun, Irt-horru", Late Period, 6th-3rd Century B.C., 9 in. (23 cm.) long approx. (4)
