Lingford, heir to the Lingfords baking powder fortune and the third generation to run the firm, built on the business his father Ernest and grandfather Joseph has founded, adding custard powder, Scotch cornflour, blancmange powder and ground rice to the already long list of items produced in the firm's Durham Street factory in Bishop Auckland, county Durham.

The domed octagonal bases chased with wave motifs and supported on eight dolphin motif feet, the tapering facetted stems with differing central openwork knops, one decorated with Tudor roses, the other with lilies, with elongated sconces and detachable plain nozzles, engraved underneath with a presentation inscription, marked on side and on the nozzle
