An English mahogany, cross-banded and marquetry inlaid quarter-chiming longcase clock
The hood with mock dentil cornicing with below a swan neck cresting, glazed side panels and gilt-brass capped outset columns, the 12 in. wide brass dial with engraved border, mask and foliate spandrels to a silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with fleur-de-lys half hour markers, signed Robert Trippit/LONDON, matted centre with ringed winding holes, later recessed silvered plaques, the lower with further winding hole, a later silvered chapter ring to the arch signed WM. CARTER/KINGSTON, the eight day three train movement with five ringed pillars, anchor escapement, hour strike on bell and quarters on six bells, snail to back plate, later seatboard; associated, dial and movement first quarter 18th century and adapted, case last quarter 18th century -- 94 in. (239 cm.) high
