This important map was one of the most attractive of the Americas at the time. It is noted for the fact that its primary source is the first manuscript figurative map of the Dutch fur trader Adriaen Block: Bleau's printed version was the first full representation of it in print. It is also the first printed document to delineate an insular Manhattan. The whole map is adorned by deer, foxes, bears, egrets, rabbits, cranes and turkeys and is the first time that beavers, polecats and otters appear on a printed map.
